Migrate from Google Drive

Total Vault can pull an existing Google Drive archive straight in — you never download and re-upload by hand. You connect Drive once, point Vault at what you want, and it does the rest in the background.

Two things to know up front:

• Imported files land inside a project, so create the project you want them in first (click New in the sidebar). You choose the destination when you start the import.
• Vault only ever reads from your Drive. It never writes to it or deletes anything — your originals stay exactly where they are.

Open Settings and find the Imports section. Then:

• Click Connect Google Drive.
• Google asks you to sign in and allow Total Vault to view your Drive files. Approve it.
• You land back on Settings → Imports, where Google Drive now shows up as a connected source, labelled with your Google account email.

On the connected Google Drive row, click Import… to open the options:

• Under Import into, pick the project where the files should land.
• To bring over just one folder, click Choose folder from Drive… and select it — or paste a Drive folder ID into the field.
• Leave the folder field blank to bring over your whole Drive.

Want a sense of the size first? Click Check size for a rough count of files and total bytes before you commit. When it looks right, click Start import.

Once you hit Start import, the work happens server-side. You can close the tab, switch projects, or shut your laptop — the import keeps running on Vault's servers and your files keep landing.

Back in Settings → Imports, a Recent imports list shows live progress: a count of files done, how much has transferred, and a rough time remaining. As each file arrives, Vault double-checks it actually works so you know your archive is safe — not just copied.

Need to stop a running import? Click Cancel on its row. If a few files couldn't be brought over, the row shows how many and offers Retry failed to take another pass at just those.

When the import finishes, its row reads Safe and your files are sitting in the project you chose — browsable, downloadable, and fully searchable like anything else you've uploaded. Try the Search bar and type plain English to find something from the batch.
