Filtering by date and project

When you search, Total Vault looks across everything you've uploaded. Sometimes that is more than you want at once. Filtering lets you narrow the results down to a slice — for example, just photos and videos from the last week, or just the files inside one project.

There are two ways to narrow a search: a date filter you pick from the toolbar, and project scoping you get just by naming a project in what you type. Both are covered below.

Above your search results you'll see a row of filter chips. The one labeled Modified narrows results to a time range.

• Run a search from the search bar so results appear.
• Find the Modified chip in the toolbar above the results and open it.
• Pick a range: Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This year, or Last year.
• The results narrow right away to files from that range. The chip now shows the range you picked.

To go back to all dates, open the Modified chip and clear it with the small × on the chip, or use Clear filters to reset every filter at once.

There's no separate project picker to fuss with. Just name the project in your search and add the word "only" — Total Vault understands you want to stay inside that one project.

• Type your search and include the project name, like outdoor photos in the Sundays project only.
• Total Vault confines the results to that project.
• A chip appears at the top of the results reading in "Sundays" so you can see the search really was held to that project.

Changed your mind? Remove that scope chip and the same search runs across everything again. You can mix this with the date filter — for example, search inside one project and then narrow it to Last 30 days.

• You can describe a time range right in your search too — phrases like everything from 2023 or documents from last year work, and Total Vault shows what it understood as a removable chip you can drop if it guessed wrong.
• If a search comes back empty, clear your filters first — a narrow date range or project scope is the most common reason results disappear.
• Every result links back to where the file lives, so once you've found it you're one step from the folder it sits in.
