Resetting your password

Forgot your Vault password? Here's how to request a reset link from the sign-in screen, set a new password, and what to do if you sign in with Google or Microsoft.

01When you need this

Forgot the password to your Total Vault account? No problem. You can reset it yourself from the sign-in screen in a couple of minutes — we'll email you a one-time link to set a new one.

If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, you don't have a Vault password to reset. Just use the Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft button on the sign-in screen, and reset your password (if you've forgotten it) with that provider instead.

02Request a reset link

Start from the sign-in screen. The Forgot your password? link shows up once you've entered your email and moved on to the password step.

  • Go to the sign-in page and type the email on your account.
  • Choose Continue. You'll land on the password screen.
  • Below the password field, choose Forgot your password?
  • Enter your email again on the reset screen and choose Send reset link.

You'll see a Check your email confirmation. For your security, we send the link only if an account exists for that email — so the message looks the same either way.

03Set a new password

  • Open the email from Total Vault and follow the reset link.
  • Type a new password (at least 8 characters), then type it again to confirm.
  • Choose Save password. We'll take you straight to sign in.
Pick something you don't use anywhere else. The reset link works once, so if it says it was already used or has expired, just request a fresh one from the sign-in screen.

Changing your password also signs you out everywhere and clears any browser you'd told us to trust for 30 days — so you'll enter your new password (and a one-time code) the next time you sign in. That's intentional: a fresh password means a fresh, clean start.

04Still stuck?

If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder and make sure you used the exact address on your account. Still nothing? We're happy to help — reach us through contact or email support@totalvault.ai.
