How to trust a device so you can skip the emailed code for 30 days, where to sign out, and why you should always sign out on a shared computer.

01How sign-in works

Signing in to Total Vault takes your email, your password, and a 6-digit code we email you. That code is your second layer of protection: even if someone learns your password, they still can't get in without the code in your inbox.

The code expires after 10 minutes. If you don't enter it in time, just start sign-in again and we'll send a fresh one.

02Trust a device to skip the code

Typing a code every time on your own laptop gets old fast. So when you sign in, you can tell Total Vault to trust the browser you're using and skip the code on it for the next 30 days.

Enter your email and password as usual.
On the password screen, check Skip two-factor authentication on this device for 30 days.
Finish signing in with the emailed code. From now on, sign-ins from that same browser go straight through, no code needed.

After 30 days the trust quietly expires and you'll be asked for a code again the next time. Trust lives in that one browser on that one device, so a trusted laptop doesn't make your phone trusted too. Each browser you want to skip the code on, you trust once.

Changing your password clears the trust on every device at once. That's on purpose: if you've just rotated your password because something felt off, you want every old browser asked for a code again. After a password change, expect to enter a code the next time on each device.

03Signing out

You can sign out from two places:

Open the menu under your name and avatar in the top-right corner and choose Sign out.
Go to Settings → Account and use the Sign out button there.

Either one ends your current session and returns you to the sign-in screen. Your files are untouched; you simply sign back in whenever you're ready.

04On a shared or public computer

If you sign in on a computer that isn't yours — a library machine, a friend's laptop, a shared studio workstation — leave the trust checkbox unchecked. You don't want that browser able to reach your vault without a code later.

And always sign out before you walk away. Closing the tab is not the same as signing out. Use the Sign out button so the next person can't open your vault.
